John David Byrer, age 79, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at his niece's residence. He was born in Elnora, IN on March 3, 1944, the son of Rollie & Jesse (Walls) Byrer.

He worked at Perdue Farms in Washington, Indiana for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge in Washington. He enjoyed watching basketball games, riding motorcycles in his younger years and decorating cakes for his loved ones. He also loved playing Santa when his nieces and nephews were young.

John is survived by his sister, Mary Souders; brother, Elisha Sterling as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Byrer and sisters, Sally Edmonson, Doris Ermagene "Ern" Bechtel, Lois Imogene Earls and Betty Nalker as well as nieces, Myra Sue Sullivan and Karen Jeffers as well as a nephew, Ronnie Bechtel.

A celebration of life will be held at Elnora Park in Elnora, Indiana from 2:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
