Jerry Allen Beard

Jerry Allen Beard, 88, of Bloomfield, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.

Born January 21, 1937 in Solsberry, he was the son of Ralph E. and Vera E. (Jenkins) VanMeter.

Jerry was a partner at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield and Lyons, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Bloomfield First Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge, Greene County Shrine Club, Elks Lodge, the Scottish Rite, Solsberry Son’s of the American Legion and served on the Board of Director’s at Farmers and Mechanics Federal Savings and Loan.

Surviving relatives include: two sons, Bart A. (Jamee) Beard and Bradford W. (Julie) Beard; his grandchildren, Ashlea E. (Caleb) Dunkerly, Bradlea K. (Trey) Miller, Patrick A. Beard and Justin R. Beard; his great grandchildren, Blake Dunkerly, Brynlea Dunkerly, Paxton Miller and Pieper Miller; and a special friend, Bobbi Vandeventer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Ann Beard on May 6, 2003 and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Scott Chastain officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview cemetery in Bloomfield.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Monday and 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Grandview Cemetery.
