Jean A. Pope, age 76, of Linton, passed away at 7:28 A.M. on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Glenburn Home in Linton. She was born in Linton on February 9, 1943, the daughter of Fred & Nellie (Hanley) Sparks.

Jean was a 1961 graduate of Worthington-Jefferson High School. She attended Ivy Tech.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge Chapter #19 and the Order of the Eastern Star, both of Linton.

She loved to travel, camp, and spend time with her family. Jean was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years whom she married June 18, 1961, Don W. Pope of Linton, Kathy (Walt) Lawrence of Linton, Scott (Janice) Pope of Washington, and Fred Pope of Greenfield, grandchildren, Miriah (Dustin) Wildin of Linton and Caleb (Tasha) Pope of Linton, great-grandchildren, Joshua Lower, Casin Pope, Collin Pope, Ian Wildin, Zane Wildin, and Cannon Pope, a brother, Lyle (Willy) Sloan of Worthington, sisters-in-law, Barbara Jerrells and Deloris Sparks, and life-long friend, Mary Sue Hayes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Mirisa LeAnn Jones, great-grandson, Noah Monroe, and brothers, Arnold, Ronald, and Morris Sparks.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, with Pastor Mike Rotman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8 P.M., and from 10 A.M. until the time of service Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mirisa Jones Memorial Scholarship (payable to the Greene Co. Foundation), through the funeral home.
