James William Bowers, 56 of Linton, Indiana passed away at his residence on August 28, 2022, with his family and friends by his side. He was born on May 21, 1966, the son of William D. and Martha Jane (Hugunin) Bowers.

James was a 1984 graduate of Worthington Jefferson High School. He was a member of Linton Masonic Lodge #560. He worked as a Lead Operator/Foreman at Peabody Energy Bear Run and was involved in the coal industry for over 30 years. He enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of over 33 years, Lorie Bowers; children; Levi (Sarah) Bowers of Linton, D’Lee (Ernie) Eads of Lyons; mother, Martha Jane (Hugunin) Bowers; grandchildren; Canaan and Sidney Bowers, Boone Roberts, Ayla and Corbin Eads; brothers, Anthony Bowers (Amy), and Nathan Bowers (Debra), several cousins, aunts, and uncles and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; William D. Bowers, and mother-in-law; Marie Workman.

Visitation will be on September 1, 2022, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. with a Masonic service at 6:00 p.m. and the funeral service immediately following with his longtime friend Dave Minnich speaking.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory to the American Cancer Society or the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
