James Robert Mowry, 92, of Bloomfield, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at his residence. Born March 9, 1929 in Princeton, Indiana, he was the son of William George and Velma Hazel (McConnell) Mowry.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He served in the Navy for 20 years retiring in 1967 at a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of the Solsberry American Legion Post #450, VFW, Fleet Reserve Association and attended the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Maria M. Mowry whom he married March 10, 2000; one grandson, Nicholas J. Parker; one great granddaughter, Samantha Parker; his stepchildren; Karen Fields, Kathy Julian (Darren), William H. Crays, Jr. (Jerri), Dayna Murphy (Brian), Dara Ramsey and Debbie Parsons; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Channa J. Williams and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jim Roach and Rev. Kevin Wrigley officiating. Interment will follow in Scotland Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
