James M. "Jim" Cary
/James M. ‘Jim’ Cary, 69, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022. Jim was born on July 2, 1952 in Linton to John W. Cary, Sr. and Ruth A. (Laue) Cramer.
Jim was a US Navy Veteran, serving from June 1970 to May 1974. He was a graduate of Linton-Stockton High School Class of 1970. Jim worked at Peabody Coal Co. during his early career until he purchased The Grill in 1987. He actively ran the restaurant until his retirement in 2017, when he sold the restaurant to his nephew.
Family left to cherish the memories of Jim include: one daughter, Jodi Cary of Alpharetta, GA; three brothers, John (Betty Mayes) Cary of Linton, Joe (Janice) Cary of Vincennes and Jeff (Tina) Cary of Cross City, FL; one sister, Jean (Jack) Watson of Springfield, GA; his step-mother, Maxine Cary of Linton; step-daughter, Dawn (Garry) Bowersock-Weddle of Linton; step-son, Michael Bowersock of FL; three step-brothers, Floyd A. (Sherri) Cramer of Jasonville, David J. (Kim) Cramer of Linton and Jack Thompson of Altoona, PA; step-sister, Rosie Jones of Tampa, FL and six step-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his companion, Rita Bowersock; his parents and his step-father, Floyd L. Cramer.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
