James L. Carter, 95, of Owensburg passed away Sunday December 12, 2021 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born November7, 1926 in Owensburg, Indiana the son of Orvel J. and Daphne L. (Wilson) Carter.

Jim worked at NSWC Crane and retired with 41 years of service, he was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and attended the Owensburg Baptist Church.

Jim married Thelma Mae Ashcraft on July 31, 1948 in Spencer, Indiana and she preceded him in death.

Surviving relatives include his children, Randy J. Carter and Bonnie L. (Darrel) Holtsclaw; his grandchildren, Brad Holtsclaw, Melissa Fields, John Poore, Amanda Poore; his great grandchildren Wyatt Fields, Hannah Fields, Kristy Gholson, Heather Babbs, Sean Walls, Tyler Babbs, Dylan Poore, Tori Poore and several great great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, parents, granddaughter Marie Ellen Carter, daughter-in-law Carolyn Carter, brother Charles William Carter, sister Shirley Carter Fields, nephew Rick Carter and son Ritchie Tim Carter who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday and 10 A.M. Friday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home with Jim Buher officiating. Burial will follow at Dishman Cemetery.
