James Fields

James K. Fields, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 30 at his home. He was born October 9, 1939 in Stafford Township, Greene County, the son of Daniel and Doris Madge (Cline) Fields.

Jim graduated from Marco High School in 1957. He graduated from Indiana State with a bachelor’s degree in 1961 and a masters in guidance in 1965. He completed an Educational Specialist in Guidance from Indiana University in 1969. He worked as a high school guidance counselor beginning his career at Eastern Greene followed by Heltonville, Needmore, Bedford and Bedford North Lawrence. Jim retired in 2002 after 41 years of service.

Jim married Mary Rush in 1965 and had two daughters, Moriah Crane (Bob) and Elese Wellman (Brad) and three grandchildren, Nichol Huskey (Logan), Audrey Stevens (Jeremiah) and Derek Crane, one great-granddaughter, Adeline Stevens. He resided in Cincinnati in Eastern Greene County for 54 years.

Two sisters, Dollie Cunningham and Emily Johnson survive Jim.

His parents and one sister, Hallie Tyson, and two brothers, Charles Fields and Dewey Fields preceded him in death.

Jim was a people-person, he never met a stranger so he had friends everywhere. He was one of the most interesting and unforgettable people one could ever meet. He touched many lives and made many memories in his 79 + years. That is his enduring legacy, the many people (family and friends) who can count on one of these memories to get them through a tough time or when they need help putting things in perspective or when they just need to smile.

Graveside services will be Private.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday July 3, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
