James E. ‘Jim’ Short, Jr., 82, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully, with his loved ones by his side, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on April 6, 1940, in Gary, Indiana to James E. and Lorraine L. (Pester) Short.

Jim married his loving wife, Susan Gail (Benjamin) Short on December 18, 1976.

Jim was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Saron United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #22 and VFW Post #7188. Jim worked as a Chemical Engineer at Crane Naval Base, retiring with 30 years of service. He adored his grandchildren and loved spoiling them and his dogs.

Family left to cherish the memory of Jim include: his wife, Sue Short; one daughter, Amanda (Chris) Yingling of Circleville, OH; grandchildren, Lyla, Lauren, James and Lexi; his beloved dogs, Penguin and Tilly. Also surviving are his sister, Jill (Charlie) Noonan of Brentwood, TN and brother, Dick (Vivian) Short of Punta Gorda, FL.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jeffrey Short.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with JD Rose officiating. Jim will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
