James D. Floyd

James D. Floyd, 68, of Linton, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Linton on November 26, 1952, the son of Donald and Luann (Ramsey) Floyd.

He was a 1971 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. He married Linda (Peterson) Floyd on May 17, 1980. Jim was employed by Citizens Energy for 46 years. He was a member of the Linton First United Methodist Church, Elks #866, Greene County Cattleman’s Association, Indiana Beef Cattleman Association along with the National Cattleman’s Association.

Jim lived for his family and his greatest interests and enjoyments were following Cailynn’s horse shows, Cole’s baseball games, Cheslee’s softball games and helping babysit Jackson. Cattle was a large part of his life and he loved working alongside James Darren.

He also enjoyed his nieces and nephews while teasing them every chance he got.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, daughter, Leslie (Chet) Cooprider and son, James Darren (Jill) Floyd, grandchildren, Cailynn James Cooprider, Cole Allen Cooprider, Cheslee Ann Cooprider, Jackson Douglas Floyd, and another Floyd grand baby is to be born this month, his mother, Luann Floyd, sister, Jane Turpen, in-laws, Bob and Rita Blaker, Mike and Becky Peterson, Lori and Kevin McDonald, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Floyd and brother-in-law, Joe Turpen.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton with Chris Gehring officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00-8:00 pm and Tuesday from 9:00 am until the times of service.
