Helen Ruth Whitlock, 84, of Terre Haute, IN passed away at 8:30 A.M. Thursday, June 2, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 23, 1937 in Gilmore, IN to Ralph McBrideSr. and Hattie (Williams) McBride.

Ruth married Coan Whitlock July 23, 1962, he passed away onOctober 20, 2016.

Survivors include her son, Terry Whitlock (Delores) of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Coan A. Whitlock, Cora Whitlock; siblings, Betty Stevenson of Jasonville, IN, Charles Ray McBride of Jasonville, IN; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, William McBride, James McBride, Inez Funk, Ralph McBride Jr., Bonnie McBride, Eunice McBride.

Ruth graduated Jasonville High School Class of 1955. She worked as a secretary for many years and was a homemaker. Ruth attended Farmer’s Chapel Community Church, she had previously attended Oregon Baptist Church and 1st Prairie Creek Baptist Church. She was also a longtime member and treasurer for the Baptist Women’s Missionary Assoc.. She enjoyed quilting, visiting antique stores and traveling. Ruth loved to decorate for Christmas. Ruth was a state officer with Lions Clubs International having served as District Governor from 1999 to 2000. The state records also note that they are the only family to date to have her husband (Coan Whitlock), Ruth and their son Terry all serve as District Governor’s with Lion’s Clubs International. Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from Noon to 3 P.M. Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Funeral Home.Services are immediately following at 3 P.M. with her son, Pastor Terry Whitlock officiating.

Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
