Hazel Maxine (Cox) Hammond, 92, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 12:46 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025 in Serenity Spring Senior Living in Jasonville, IN.

She was born May 17, 1932 in Sullivan County, IN, to Roy Cecil Cox and Merle (Mowery) Cox.

Hazel married Robert E. Hammond, he passed away on December 20, 2004.

Survivors include her, children, Rick E. Hammond (Jeannie) of Linton, IN, Michael P. Hammond (Becky) of Jasonville, IN, Pamela Sue Simmons (James) of Linton, IN; grandchildren, Eric E. Hammond, Bradley A. Hammond (Amy), Byron Michael Hammond (Emily), Ashley Stout (Tom), Amanda Sue Wooten (Nathan); great-grandchildren – 12; sister, Mary Ann Shields (Louie) of Clay City, IN; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Albert Cox, Phillip Cox, Homer Cox; sister, Virginia Gambill.

Hazel had worked at Murphy’s and Dollar Store. She enjoyed her flowers, working in the yard as well as sewing and taking care of her house. Hazel loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  She attended Howesville Community Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from  11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m, Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Services  are immediately following at 1:00 p.m. with  Pastor Tracy Carpenter officiating.

Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery near Dugger, IN.
