Harry Junior Collins

Harry Junior Collins, age 91, of Linton, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at his residence with family by his side. Harry was born behind the coal stove at his grandfather’s house, “Pappy” Corbin, on November 15, 1930 in Linton. He was the first born to Harry W. and Inez (Corbin) Collins.

Harry graduated with the Linton-Stockton High School class of 1948, and married his high school sweetheart, Delena Hollingsworth on May 29, 1948. They were married for 64 years until her death on December 5, 2013.

He worked at NSWC Crane, Shoals Gypsum Mine, and was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service where he retired from in 1992. Harry was an avid bowler, bowling since 1959 until his illness of this year.

He is survived by his two sons, Al Collins (Rick Swain) of Maryville, IL and Tom Collins (Twila) of Dugger; his daughter, Rita Brinson (Mike) of Linton; grandchildren, Kerri Hash (Paul) of Bloomfield, Kenya Young (Andy) of Lafayette, Casey Kennett (Casey) of Jasonville, Bryan Brinson (Brandy Holtsclaw) of Worthington, Kyle Collins (Sara Stone) of Linton, Beth French (Daniel) of Jasonville, and four step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; a sister, Greta Hill (Cordell); a brother, Jim Collins (Marsha); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter, Sally Lacer (John); two brothers, Bill Collins and Dale Collins; and his beloved pet of 18 years, PeeWee, a miniature horse on December, 2021.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 29, 2022, with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 P.M., and Monday from 12 noon until the time of service.

Memorial contributions in memory of Harry Collins may be made to ViaQuest Hospice or the Linton Youth Bowling League, through the funeral home.
