Gertrude Glatz Aydt

Gertrude Glatz Aydt, 99, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life, with her loving family by her side, on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon. She was born on April 14, 1925 in Belle Rive, Illinois to Joseph E. and Katherine (Frey) Glatz. Gertrude married the love of her life, Thomas John Aydt on November 26, 1949.

Gertrude was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society and was the recipient of the distinguished Simon Brute Society Award for her work and devotion to the church. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #22 Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and mother. She also worked at the International Shoe Factory before working 16 years at Mercury Cleaners, retiring in 1995. Gertrude enjoyed quilting, gardening, volunteering at the community food pantry and loved spending time with her family.

Family left to cherish the memories of Gertrude include: five daughters, Bernita (Bob) Baurley of Versailles, IN, Kathy (John) Jones of Bruceville, Juanita (Tim) Egnew of Linton, Jane (Joe) Robbins of Bruceville and Debbie (Jeff) Hollingsworth of Linton; two sons, Jerry (Ronna) Aydt of Owensville and Paul (Vickie) Aydt of Bloomfield; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and two cousins.

Gertrude was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Thomas (in 1977) and infant son, Thomas (in 1966); one sister and three brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton with Father Simon Natha officiating. Gertrude will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. A Rosary Prayer Service will be at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ann’s Altar Society or the Linton Community Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
