Gary L. ‘Chic’ Johnson, 71, of Linton, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life, on October 18, 2024, at his home. He was born on October 11, 1953, in Washington, Indiana to Dorrel E., Jr. and Barbara A. (Horrall) Johnson.

Chic was a dragline operator with Amax Coal Co., then a supervisor with Wetterau Foods and later in life, was an engineer with CP Railroad with several years of service. He enjoyed his grandchildren, drag racing, playing poker, Harley Davidson motorcycles and he had a love affair with cars.  

Family left to cherish the memories of Chic include his mother, Barbara Johnson of Sullivan; son, Gary Johnson, Jr. of Linton; daughters, April (Chris) Thompson of Phoenix and Falisha Hauck of Linton; grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Spencer Hauck and Oakley Hauck; sisters, Yvonne Johnson of North Terre Haute and Pamela Johnson of Sullivan and nephew, Travis (Lacey) Snapp of Sullivan.

Chic was preceded in death by his father, Dorrel Johnson, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Ruth Waldren; paternal grandparents, Betty and Dorrel Johnson, Sr.

Funeral services to honor the life of Chic will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pastor Jeff Fulk officiating. Chic will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
