Frank Nelson Smeltzer, 88, of Bloomfield, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Garden Villa of Bloomington. Born July 5, 1930 in Hammond, Indiana he was the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Rish) Smeltzer.

Frank was a Pipe Fitter and served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana, he belonged to the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and the VFW.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Emma Mae (Moss) Smeltzer; his children, Beth Ann Stirn, Paul Smeltzer and Frank Smeltzer, Jr.; stepsons, Harold Backus and Jerry Backus.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jay Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana.

Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
