Emil 'Gene' Hamilton
Emil “Gene” Hamilton, 85, of Doans, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at his home after a long illness. He was born on June 12, 1935 in Greene County to Clara (Dove) and Pat Hamilton.
Gene worked for the Greene County Highway Department and the Bloomfield Brickyard. He enjoyed playing music, working on the family farm, camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed being outdoors with his loving wife working in the yard and her many flowers beds.
Surviving relatives include: his wife of 30 years, Mary Ann (Emery) Hamilton; his stepdaughters, Ruth Ann (Scott) Flynn and Shelby Craig; four grandchildren, Amber (Jon) Skinner, Austin Vandeventer, Tristan (Lauren) Flynn and Shayden (Jeffery) Graham; three great-grandchildren, Kinlee Fulk, Ayvree Fulk and Maverick Vandeventer; one sister, Josephine Girgley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Dean Hamilton, four sisters, Iona Rusher, Helen Mumma, Ina Dowden and Gladys Hamm, and his parents.
Funeral services will be private at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Via Quest (hospice) or Antioch Cemetery.
