Earl "Bud" Murry, Jr.
Earl "Bud" R. Murry, Jr., age 68, of Worthington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Vincennes on September 19, 1950, the son of Earl & Susanna (Bosworth) Murry.
He was a 1968 graduate of South Knox High School. Bud was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1970 where he was part of the 11th Infantry Americal Division (The Jungle Warriors). While in Vietnam, he attended sniper school. The military issued Bud many things during his time in Vietnam, but nothing meant more to him than his unit.
Bud was a self-employed farmer.
He was a member of American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and a life-time member of the VFW. He enjoyed life, golfing, fishing, snow skiing, boating, scuba diving, flying airplanes, skydiving, and spending time on the river.
Bud is survived by his mother, Susanna of Vincennes, son, Jacob (Brandy) Murry of Monroe City, daughter, Alicia (Herman) Alumbaugh of Carlisle, son, Jeremy (Laura) Helderman of Lawrenceville, IL, sisters, Janet (Jerry) Worland of Switz City and Brenda Jean (Jamie) Norris of Worthington, two brothers, Dan (Benita) Murry of Henderson, KY and Paul (Susan) of Lenoir City, TN, six grandchildren, Jaelee, Elliah, Lori, Bryce, Alex, and Chloe, his former spouse, Suzi Sievers, and his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Steve Murry.
Military Honors and funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington on Saturday, January 5, 2018.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the time service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Honor Flight, Inc, through the funeral home.
