Dorothy Marie (Hamlin) Blake
/Dorothy Marie (Hamlin) Blake died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana on May 27, 2019 at the age of 96. Dorothy was born on October 3, 1922 in Greene County, Indiana to her parents Shelton and Hazel (Sample) Hamlin.
She was raised on a farm where she developed her love for country living. Dorothy caught the eye of her future husband, Lloyd, and they soon wed on August 3, 1940. She birthed her first child in 1941 and began raising their growing family. Over the course of their marriage they welcomed a total of 4 children; Dian, Danny, Lloyd Jr. and Melody.
Dorothy was known for her quick wit and hilarious sense of humor, especially in her later years. She was a fearless mother, who focused on raising her children to be the hardest workers with tender hearts. She enjoyed having her grandchildren over at Hunter Lane during the summertime and spending time with them on the farm. Dorothy loved watching her grandchildren grow and turn into parents themselves and soon found herself a great-grandma of 13. Dorothy was known for her love of flowers, attending auctions, the spring time breeze and tending to her home up until her passing. She will be remembered as a loving wife; supportive mother; and a charismatic grandma.
