Dorothy Padgett

Dorothy J. Padgett, 91, of Bloomfield, passed away at 9:35 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2019 at home in Bloomfield. Born June 8, 1928 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Roy and Anna E. (Pribble) Ashcraft.

She was a homemaker, and retired. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of God.

Surviving relatives include: two sons, Michael Padgett (Jessie) of Bloomfield and Ben Padgett (Linda) of Lake Wales, Florida; four brothers, Robert Ashcraft of Indianapolis, Kenneth Ashcraft of Kokomo, James Ashcraft of Wiggins, Mississippi and Roy “Bud” Ashcraft Jr. of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Padgett, two brothers, Raymond and Ralph Ashcraft, and her sisters, Wilma Walton, Royelle Wood, Elaine Hord, Beulah Howell and Marjorie Ball.

She was a faithful NASCAR fan and enjoyed playing Dominoes and Euchre with friends whenever she could.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Memorial interment will be in Walnut Grove cemetery in the Park community at a later date.

Public visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
