Doris M. Malone
Doris M. (Anderson) Malone, 88, of Newberry, Indiana, peacefully went to Heaven, surrounded by her loved ones, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon, Indiana. She was born on August 16, 1929 in Greene County, Indiana to Grover Cleveland and Jessie Leora (Edwards) Anderson. Doris married her loving husband, Ray D. Malone on March 10, 1950.
Doris was a member of the Odon United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and organ for church services and many area funerals. She was also a member of Newberry Eastern Star and the Homemakers Club in Bloomfield. Doris worked at Federal Savings and Loan and also volunteered with Greene County 4-H before her retirement in 1994. Her most rewarding job was working with her husband on the family farm, where they grew row crops, livestock and their family.
Survivors include: her husband, Ray Malone; two daughters, Judy (Jim) Hunsicker of Huntingburg and Karen (Dennis) Kutch of Newberry; son-in-law, Melvin Lich of Bruceville; grandchildren, Jonathan Hunsicker, Allen Lich, Tammy Halter, Megan Pride, Renae McCracken, Lora Kutch, Sarah Saladin and Rachel Flinn; fourteen great-grandchildren; special friends, Mike and Ruth Ann Flinn of Elnora; several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Donna J. Lich; brothers, Ralph, Harry, Leslie and Harold Anderson; sisters, Jessie Hamilton and Mina Ethel Young.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Rev. Bob Duley and Pastor Debbie Payne officiating. Doris will be laid to rest in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, east of Newberry.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 7 and from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ketcham Memorial Nursing Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
