Donald E. LeGrand

Donald E. LeGrand passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020, at his home in Bloomfield, Indiana. Born May 20, 1943 in Bridgeport, Illinois, Don was the son of Roy and Mary G. (Skaggs) LeGrand. He was the youngest of their nine children.

Don loved God and was baptized as a teenager in St. Francisville, Illinois. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield. He was employed at Midwestern Engineers, Vincennes University, and NSWC Crane. He retired from Crane with more than 20 years of service.

Don was artistic and a talented draftsman. He designed many homes and commercial buildings in southern Indiana and operated LeGrand Photography in Loogootee, Indiana. Don also enjoyed researching his genealogy, having tracked his French ancestors from early American settlements to his early home in Illinois.

Surviving relatives include his wife Michaelle LeGrand of Bloomfield; one daughter, Cynthia (Mike) Bickford of Maryville, Ohio; one son, Wyatt (Brittany) LeGrand of Bloomfield; one step-son, Kevin Adcock of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Andrew Bickford of Canton, Michigan, Sarah (Jason) Fowler of Fort Worth, Texas, Kathryn Bickford and Ella Bickford of Marysville, Ohio; one step-granddaughter, Ariel Adcock of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Lois Mast of Berne, Indiana; two close nieces, Lisa LeGrand of St. Francisville, Illinois and Jenny (Tony) Hitchens of Poneto, Indiana. He was also survived by his loving canine companions, Maksim and Sadie.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Frances Helpingstine, Fredia Douglas, Mary Jane Petty, Roberta LeGrand, Rochelle Ameter, Philip LeGrand, and Kenneth LeGrand.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield.
