David Hunter

David F. Hunter 98, of Bloomfield, passed away at 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at his residence. Born April 26, 1921 in Calvertville, he was the son of Winifred and Elsie (Huffman) Hunter.

He served his country in World War II with the United States Navy. He was the Founder, Owner and Operator of Hunter’s Drive Inn in Bloomfield, which he started in 1957. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, The American Legion, Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Lydia Norris; children, Judy Ketchem (Ed), Clark Allen (Kay), Marilyn Royal, Carolyn Horn (Jerry), Chris Hunter (Joan), Theresa Espeseth (Paul), Mark Norris (Deanie), Matt Norris (Kelly) and Michael Norris (Kara); twenty-three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Hunter, his second wife, Mary B. Hunter, siblings, Ona, Ruby, Mary Belle, Audrey, Evelyn, Inez, John, Ward and Don and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Bloomfield First Baptist Church, with Rev. Nathan Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview cemetery in Bloomfield.

Public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Bloomfield First Baptist Church. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Bloomfield First Baptist Church.
