Charles Otis Hayman, Sr., age 83, of Freedom, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his family, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at his residence.  

Charles was born in Whitesville, KY on July 24, 1938, the son of William & Martine (Westerfield) Hayman.  He retired after 30 years of service from Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Indiana where he worked as a welder.

He enjoyed being outside with nature, crossword puzzles, tinkering in the garage, and spending time with family.  He was one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Charles is survived by four children, Gloria (Dave) Henderlong of Spencer, Dianna (Lupe) Mejia of Urbana, IL, Charles O. (Stephen Schaaf) Hayman, Jr. of Troy, OH, and Cynthia (Daniel) James of Sussex, WI, two brothers, Jesse (Doris) Hayman of Owensboro, KY and Kernie (Patsy) Hayman of Union Mills, IL, sister-in-law, Carolyn Hayman of Owensboro, KY, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jacqueline (Cisco) Hayman on Feb. 6, 2012, son, William Hayman, and a brother, Donald Hayman.
