Celia Mae Nocus
Celia Mae Nocus, age 87, died January 7, 2019. She was born April 27, 1931 in Linton, IN to Guy and Opal (Fines) Clayton.
She grew up in Linton later moving to Bicknell, IN, graduating from Bicknell High School. Mae was married to Kenny Nocus on May 1, 1955. Mae and Kenny lived in Bloomfield, IN. She was a member of, and faithfully attended, the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church. Mae taught Sunday School classes and was active in the Presbyterian Womens Association. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau philanthropic sorority, Friends of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Public Library and various book clubs. Mae worked for Nocus Sand and Gravel, Resler Block Plant and Jones and Sons.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Randall Burcham, grandson and spouse, Grant and Alisha Burcham, granddaughter and spouse, Abigail Burcham and Chance Hurt, one great grandson, Henry Burcham-Hurt, one great granddaughter, Avis Mae Burcham, brother James Clayton (Craig Johnson), sister-in-law Jane Small, nephews, and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, a sister, two brothers and their spouses.
Visitation and funeral will be held at the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church on Friday January 11 from 4-8 PM, and 1 hour prior to the 1 PM funeral service Saturday January 12. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery; Reverend Dawn Black will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Literacy Coalition, Presbyterian Womens Association or Parkinson’s Foundation.
Mae enjoyed reading, hosting parties, and attending IU sporting events. She was kind, made the best of every situation, adored her family, and was a blessing to others. She will be greatly missed by many.
