Carolyn R. Johnson, age 77, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 1:57 P.M. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Miller”s Merry Manor in Sullivan. She was born in Linton on January 5, 1944, the daughter of Donald and Donna (Laymon) Poole.

Carolyn was a 1961 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. Following high school she attended Indiana State University and took many summer classes throughout the years. She married John G. Johnson on December 22, 1962. She worked at RCA in Bloomington before starting their family. She began working at Linton-Stockton Elementary School in 1976 where she remained as a teacher”s aid until 1984. Carolyn co-owned and operated School Bears Cottage Preschool beginning in 1984 and until her retirement in 2000.

She was a life-long member of Linton First Baptist Church and also spent many years as a sister of the Psi Iota Xi sorority.

Carolyn loved children, spending many years helping little ones learn and grow. She loved her church, family, and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Eric) Whitacre of Manassas, Virginia and Lori (Tony) Resler of Switz City, a brother, Michael Poole of Linton, five grandchildren, Erik (Kristina) Schenck, Allea (Jake) Reagan, Abigail Whitacre (fiancé Colton), Madeline Whitacre, and Emma Resler, a step-brother, John (Nancy) Correll, and a step-sister, Deanna (Dave) Sumpter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and step-father, Ray Correll.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, with Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 A.M. until the time of service.
