Capt. Robert "Shane" Evans
Capt. Robert “Shane” Evans (USMC, Retired), 62, of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday June 5, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Weimar, Texas December 5, 1955, the son of Robert E. Evans and Betty J. (Fade) Evans.
Shane graduated from Malakoff High School and enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1974. He retired after 20 years of service and began a 23 year career with SAIC, retiring in October 2017 as Vice President, Programs. He dedicated his life to the defense of our country and to his family and friends. He rarely parted ways without saying “call if you need anything” and he meant it.
He was a lifelong learner and had a passion for the game of baseball. He coached hundreds of children locally and across the country in baseball, basketball, and football. He coached countless others in the Game of Life. He respected effort over outcome and exemplified “Semper Fidelis”.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary (Rivard) Evans, his children, Shauna (Jason) Pegg, Tucker (Vanessa) Evans of Bloomfield, Tyler (Taleah) Evans of Bloomington, his beloved grandchildren, Oscar, Annie, Leo and Maxwell Pegg, Ava, Mia and baby Evans, one sister Sherry (H.L.) Beaubien of Palestine, Texas, niece, Brandy (Jeff) Martin of Palestine, Texas and nephew Cole (Morgan) Beaubien of Athens, Texas, two great- nieces and two great-nephews. He is also survived by one brother, Robin (Debra) Cromwell of Mitchell, Indiana.
Shane was preceded in death by his parents.
Join us at Shane's residence on Saturday June 16, 2018 from 1600-2100 to celebrate his life.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomfield High School Baseball Program in Shane’s name and in care of Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
