Billy G. McNew, age 95, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 10:45 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Dugger, Indiana on October 1, 1927, the of Guy & Basil (Drew) McNew.

He was a 1945 graduate of Linton Stockton High School. He worked for the City of Linton for 50 years as a lineman and electric supervisor. He also wired houses on the side. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a lay preacher for several years. He enjoyed watching IU basketball, going to church, reading scriptures and also worked with the little league baseball in the 1960”s. His favorite love was spending time with his loving family.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Sonnie Brown of Linton; grandchildren, Tony (Angela) Brown of Ellettsville, Billie Jo Hensley of Indianapolis, Matthew (Megan) Brown of Secor, IL and Stephanie (Tyler) Wall of Knoxville, TN; great grandchildren, Ashlyn (Jace) Brewer, Kyle (Destiny) Bedwell, Rachel Brown, Carrianne Brown, Ally Brown, Lexi Crusie, Lauren Brown, Hunter Crusie, Zaela Wall, Sadie Wall, Hannah Brown and Audrey Brown as well as 5 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan (Mitchell) McNew; parents and daughter, Linda Resler.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 with Pastor John Winders officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.
