Barbara Jean Rollison

Barbara Rollison

Barbara Jeanne Rollison, age 92, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, September 7, 2019, at Glenburn Home in Linton.  She was born in Worthington on August 11, 1927, to Clyde and Evelyn (Burkhart) Ball.

After graduation from Worthington High School in 1945, she worked as a telephone operator and Griffin Engineering to support the war effort.  She married Marion "Jeff" Rollison on March 28, 1946, staying at home with her children and doing alterations for P.N. Hirsch. Barbara dearly loved her career as the Linton-Stockton High School secretary to the Principal beginning in 1960 and made many lifetime friends with her co-workers and the students. She enjoyed being recognized and visiting with many former Linton students wherever she went. She was initiated into Tri Kappa in 1961 and was an active member and eventually an inactive member until her death. She was also a member of the local Qui Vive Club and thoroughly enjoyed playing Bridge in the Linton, Dugger and Sullivan groups. She was also a member of the Worthington Eastern Star. She was very involved in activities with Jeff and enjoyed the events they participated in at the B.P.O. Elks Lodge and their yearly adventures to the 459th Bomb Group reunions where she and Jeff served as co-chair of the scholarship committee.

Barbara proudly served 20 years as a member of the Greene County General Hospital Board and took pride in the projects and improvements that were made to provide local health care. She certainly loved Linton and was also involved in the Phil Harris Festival committees, especially the Scholarship Committee for Linton High School students. Her home was always decorated and flowers were gorgeous in time for the annual 4th of July parade where she and Jeff hosted many friends, family and even strangers at their home for a relaxing time during the parade and plentiful food following. She loved all holidays and many people were lucky enough to see her home at Christmas when it was thoroughly decorated with the Dickens Christmas Villages. Being an avid collector, she had gorgeous glassware and an extensive doll collection including all of the holiday Barbies.

For all of her dedication to community and civic work, she was honored to be awarded the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash award by Governor Evan Bayh in 1990.

Following their retirements, Jeff and Barbara did a lot of traveling throughout the United States in their motor home visiting 49 states. They made many trips to Augusta to the Masters Golf Tournament, Florida, Alaska and Arizona to purchase Indian jewelry.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca (Mike) Enneking of Tipton and Jean (Mark) Peacock of Linton, granddaughter, Tami (Matt) Tebbe of Tipton, great-grandsons, Jon & Alex Tebbe of Tipton, step-grandchildren, Jesse (Neil) Clark &  Jacob (Kelly) Peacock, step great-grandson, Owen Clark, sister-in-law, Barbara Rollison of Florida, nieces, Carole Warner, LeeAnna (Stephen) Hash, Janell (Andy) Spencer, Terry Daugherty, Jo Miller, Debbie (Larry) Swan, and nephews, Kent (Molly) Rollison and Randy (Betty) Ball.

She is preceded by her parents, her husband, Marion "Jeff" Rollison, sisters, Alverta Frost and Jane Jett, brothers, Harold "Bud" Ball, Gordon "Butch" Ball, brother-in-law, Jim Frost, and sisters-in-law, Louise Ball and Chris Ball.

Saron United Church of Christ was her home church and she served several years as a Deaconess, therefore, it is requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church and will be used for the youth and or the project planned to renovate the church basement for the children.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2019, with Pastor J.D. Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
