Barbara Jane Rogers, age 97, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 4:44 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Aperion Care of Spencer. She was born in Worthington, IN on January 11, 1922, the daughter of Pearl Shouse & Ora (Schumaker) Shouse.

Barbara was a graduate of Worthington High School and received her Education Degree from Indiana State University. She was the school Librarian and taught English and Literature in the Jr High and Senior High School at Switz City Central High School. She was a member of Worthington Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for almost 60 years and a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed gardening and canning, writing letters to loved ones and oil painting.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Becky (Merl) Strosnider; grandson, Travis (Michelle) Strosnider; great grandchildren, Wesley "Rocky" Pruett-Ison, Kaylee Strosnider, Kaeden Strosnider, Alexis Strosnider, Delainey Strosnider and Kambrie Strosnider; great great granddaughter, Carmen Alton.

Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil Rogers, Jr; parents; brothers, Robert Shouse and Earl "Bud" Shouse and her sister, Thelda Myers.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington  on Friday, June 28, 2019, with Tim Wingfield and Chad Babbert officiating. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery in Worthington.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Worthington Christian Church or to the Worthington-Jefferson Alumni Association or the charity of your choice through the funeral home.
