Ava A. Starnes, age 70, of Lyons, passed away peacefully at 9:04 pm on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on November 24, 1950, the daughter of Virgil & Viola (Light) Hobbs.

She worked at Walmart for 17 years. She attended Lyons Assembly of God and Anchored in Faith Church. She loved spending time with her family.

Ava is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Robert Starnes of Lyons; sons, Bill (Jennifer) Secrest of Jasonville and Bobby Secrest of Bloomfield; step children, Diane (Andy) Dale of Linton and Robert Starnes II of Lyons; grandchildren, Terra Secrest, Robert Secrest, Scott Secrest, Tenisha Secrest and Brileigh Secrest; step grandchildren, Emma Bowersock, Elizabeth Cobb, Michael Drogich, Jr. and Gunner Starnes; sister, Roma “Peachy” Hobbs and her beloved fur baby, Cookie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Virginia “Jenny” Hobbs, Carol Hobbs and Mary Hobbs.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington with Reverend Gerald DeVore and Pastor Larry Watters officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.
