Anthony Montgomery "Tony" Thomas

Anthony Montgomery “Tony” Thomas, 79, of Bloomfield, Passed away October 6, 2019 at Hospice House in Bloomington, IN He was born April 27, 1940 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Alyce (Montgomery) and Perry Randall Thomas.

Tony was a member of Mansions In Heaven Church. He was a 1958 graduate of Arlington Heights High School, Arlington Heights, IL. He was in about every singing group at the school and enjoyed his singing. He continued his singing by joining a Barbershop Quartet and Chorus affiliated with S.P.E.B.S.Q.A. Was a member of 3 or 4 Quartets renamed as some members re-located. He truly loved to sing and did so frequently. Having always been a dog lover, he adapted to cats who adopted him.

Tony went to college in IA for 2 years then was drafted, but was not accepted due to a back problem.

Tony married October 21, 1967 to Stephanie (Bratko) Thomas who survives him. He is also survived by a son Brian Edwin Thomas of Sedona, AZ and was preceded in death by his parents and all of his aunts and uncles and a son Perry Stephan Thomas in Dec 2017.

Tony worked for Portillo’s Restaurants in Illinois and when he moved to Bloomfield to be near his aunt and uncle Lex & Virginia (Montgomery) Combs. In 2000. He started to work at the Greene County Recycling Center until his retirement in April of 2017. He loved to be of service to the recyclers, especially the little white haired ladies .

A Memorial service will be held at Noon on Friday October 11, 2019 at Mansions In Heaven Church in Bloomfield.
