New entries on the morning Jail Log at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, August 25, 2021:

August 24, 9:40 a.m. – Elijah Ray Haldeman, 32, Linton, Ind., was arrested on a warrant issued on a charge of misdemeanor invasion of privacy, and on another warrant issued for failure to appear in a case involving felony strangulation and misdemeanor battery with bodily injury and resisting law enforcement. He was being held without bond in both cases. Linton Police Officer Orry Phipps was the arresting officer.

Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Individuals are booked into jail on warrants issued by courts or on “preliminary charges” based on recommendations of investigating or arresting officers. Charges may change when a new case is filed in court by the prosecutor who reviews the case and makes the charging decision.
