New entries on the morning Jail Log at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, October 8, 2019:

October 7, 6:23 p.m. – Jerry Lee Padgett, 32, Linton, Ind., was arrested on new preliminary charges of felony strangulation, battery, criminal confinement and intimidation and misdemeanor criminal mischief. His bond was set at $17,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Bobby Pierce was the arresting officer.

October 7, 8:52 p.m. – David Kyle Wiggins, 35, Worthington, Ind., was arrested on a new preliminary charge of felony domestic battery. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Worthington Deputy Marshal Russell Walls was the arresting officer.

Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Individuals are booked into jail on warrants issued by courts or on “preliminary charges” based on recommendations of investigating or arresting officers. Charges may change when a new case is filed in court by the prosecutor who reviews the case and makes the charging decision.
