Your donation of a silent auction item helps Greene County children involved in the court system
Your silence can do great things for many children in Greene County through the Voices for Kids Open House and Silent Auction.
The open house and silent auction, which will be held Friday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first floor on the Greene County Courthouse, benefits the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. The proceeds will benefit county children involved in the court system and CASA program due to neglect and/or abuse.
“We (CASA) are the voice for the child that is currently in the foster system. We work with parents, DCS [Department of Child Services], foster families, and most importantly the child to make sure their voice is heard,” said CASA Director Amber Spicer. “We also advocate for any services the child might need and form an opinion through research of the case to make a recommendation as to what is in the best interest of the child.”
During the event, there will be a silent auction with a plethora of gift baskets, gift cards, and various items donated by businesses and organizations. Donations will be accepted until Dec. 3, Spicer said.
If your business or organization would like to donate a silent auction item, please contact Spicer at 812-384-2306, or drop it off at the CASA office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spicer and CASA volunteers can also make arrangements to pick up donations. To arrange a donation pick up, contact Spicer at the CASA office.
CASA’s Facebook page, Greene County CASA Program, is posting images of silent auctions items for those who want to get a peek of what’s to come.
In addition to the silent auction, Christmas trees, adorned with ornaments made by students at area schools, will be on display. Live entertainment will be provided and refreshments will be available.
