Worthington woman arrested on alcohol-related charges after driving 110 MPH

A 41-year-old Worthington woman was arrested Dec. 14 on felony alcohol-related charges after a traffic stop for traveling 110 MPH in a 55 MPH speed zone.

Worthington Police Department Officer Caleb Ray arrested Regina Elizabeth Deckard on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person with a prior conviction within seven years, operating a vehicle while intoxicated first offense and no endangerment, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within seven years, and reckless driving at an unreasonably high or low speed so to endanger safety.

Ray was contacted by Worthington Police Department Officer Trey Sparks who, according to the probable cause affidavit, stated he’d observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, passing several vehicles on State Road 67. Ray then observed a vehicle traveling faster than the flow of traffic and activated his radar, which indicated the vehicle was traveling at 110 MPH in a posted 55 MPH speed zone.

Ray initiated a traffic stop and while speaking with Deckard detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. When asked if she’d been drinking, Deckard alleged she had not. Ray noted in the probable cause that her balance was unsteady and her eyes were glassy.

Greene County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jordan Allor arrived on the scene and conducted a standardized field sobriety test, which according to the probable cause, Deckard failed. She refused to submit to a chemical test and was transported to Greene County Jail so that Ray could apply for a warrant for the chemical test. The warrant was approved and a blood draw was taken at 10:04 p.m., results pending.

Ray noted in the probable cause that a check of Deckard’s criminal history showed she was convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Monroe County in February 2023.

Her bond was set at $8,500 surety with 10% cash allowed. She appeared in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on Dec. 20.
