Worthington man arrested in Linton to be charged with OVWI
A Worthington man arrested in Linton and accused of driving with an alcohol concentration of .173 is scheduled to be in court early Thursday for an initial hearing on charges of OVWI.
Jared Ross Shelton, 28, Worthington, was arrested in Linton around 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, by Officer Joe Riley of the Linton Police Department.
Around 4:30 a.m., Shelton was booked in to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Shelton posted $400 cash, was released the same day and given a court date.
Shelton was the driver of a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck headed north on 4th Street NE when he was pulled over by Officer Riley near H Street NE because Shelton allegedly failed to stop at a four-way intersection.
Officer Riley detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage during the stop and said when he asked Shelton if he’d been drinking, Shelton said he had consumed about four beers.
Officer Riley reported Shelton failed standard field sobriety tests on the scene then was transported to the police department where he failed them again then tested with an alcohol concentration of .173. The legal limit is 08.
When Shelton appears for his initial hearing on Thursday, he will be charged with:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.
