Worthington man arrested for domestic battery, confinement
A 34-year-old Worthington man was arrested Nov. 25 after allegedly battering and confining a family member.
Joshua Lee Carmichael was arrested Nov. 25 by Worthington Police Department Officer Jeremy Brinkman. He’s being charged with confinement and domestic battery.
On Nov. 25, Brinkman was dispatched for a welfare check to a Haxton Street residence in Worthington. Upon arrival, according to the press release, he heard yelling inside the home. He and Deputy Marshal Austin Shadoin were met by a female who was crying. Carmichael allegedly came to the door shouting.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Carmichael informed officers that a male—who was identified as a relative of the female—had come to the residence to “buy weed”. Carmichael alleged he did not like the male due to previous history with the female.
The female, according to the probable cause affidavit, confirmed a previous history with the male subject that upset Carmichael. She told officers when he came to the residence Carmichael did not want her to speak to him. She alleged Carmichael confined her to a bedroom by standing in the doorway and would not let her out. She said she tried to get out but was unsuccessful. She allegedly resorted to biting Carmichael’s arm, to which he responded by grabbing her hair, using it to throw her.
When Officer Brinkman shared the information he had gathered with Town Marshal Jacob Gambill, Gambill spoke with Carmichael about what had happened. Carmichael responded by stating, “Whatever she said, I did it.” Carmichael said there was nothing else to talk about.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a further check of Carmichael’s records showed a guilty judgement of domestic battery was entered against him from a case stemming back to 2020.
Carmichael was transported to Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $8,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
