Larry Dwayne Pierce, 52, Worthington, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department Tuesday night, September 13.

Officer Franklin was dispatched to the free parking area in Linton after the LPD got a report that a man with a suspended license was leaving the area in a Chevy flatbed truck. Officer Franklin located the vehicle and ran a license plate check which revealed the license plate was expired. He conducted a traffic stop at East Vincennes and 12th Streets in Linton.

Larry Pierce was identified as the driver who said he just had a state identification card. A passenger said the vehicle was his and he admitted he did not have insurance on the vehicle. Pierce’s license had been suspended due to an infraction.

Pierce and his passenger were informed that the vehicle was going to be towed due to lack of insurance and anything they wanted to get out of the vehicle would have to be checked for officer safety. They said they wanted their identification cards and phones, a wallet that was on the dash of the vehicle and a jacket out of the back of the vehicle.

Officer Franklin reported that during a check of the wallet which contained multiple cards bearing the name of Larry Pierce, he found a clear straw containing a white residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine and a small clear wrapper containing a clear crystal-like residue that was also believed to be methamphetamine.

Pierce was detained in handcuffs and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 9:08 PM. He was being held without bond pending court appearance.

A criminal case was filed against Pierce earlier today in Greene Superior Court. The date of his initial hearing is not yet known but he is facing a charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
