Worthington man accused of strangulation

A Worthington man is facing charges of strangulation and domestic battery after a GCSD deputy responded to a domestic incident in Worthington early last Wednesday morning.

Travis Lee Bottoms II

Travis Lee Bottoms II, 38, Worthington, was arrested by Deputy Zachary Goad of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Wednesday morning when Deputy Goad responded to a report of a domestic incident in Worthington.

The sheriff’s department was contacted by a caller who wanted to report a female family member had been battered by Bottoms at a residence on Walnut Street in Worthington. The caller said the female family member and her child had left the scene and were now at the caller’s residence.

Deputy Goad met with the woman who was allegedly battered and with her child who witnessed the altercation. He then went to the residence where the altercation took place – Bottoms was there and was taken into custody.

Bottoms is accused of kicking the woman, pulling her by the hair and pushing her down as well as grabbing her throat with both hands causing her to struggle to breathe. Bottoms denied putting hands on the woman. Deputy Goad reported the incident was audio recorded on a cell phone.

Bottoms was booked into the Greene County Jail at 8:16 a.m. with bond set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $800 and been released.

Bottoms is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing next Monday, July 27, on preliminary charges of strangulation, a Level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
