A Worthington man was arrested yesterday on a warrant that was issued after the WPD investigated a domestic altercation that allegedly occurred in a vehicle.

Randall Dale Richardson II

Randall Dale Richardson II, 35, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Ryan Montgomery of the Worthington Police Department yesterday, Thursday, October 29. Richardson was booked into the Greene County Jail at 6:04 p.m. The jail record shows Richardson with a home address in Worthington. The court record shows he has a home address in Linton.

Richardson was arrested on a warrant that was issued Wednesday as a result of an investigation by WPD Deputy Marshal Montgomery into an incident that occurred on Tuesday, October 20.

Richardson is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Domestic battery, with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony,

  • Strangulation, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.

Richardson’s bond was set at $9,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $900 and was released later the same day. He is scheduled to be in court on November 9 for an initial hearing.

The investigation started on Thursday, October 22, when a Linton woman reported Richardson had physically beaten her on Tuesday, October 20.

During an interview with Officer Montgomery, with WPD Town Marshal Jim O’Malley present, the woman said an argument with Richardson, over the discipline of her children, started at her residence in Linton. Richardson asked her to take him to the residence of family members in Worthington and she said the argument continued in the vehicle.

The woman alleged that while they were in the vehicle, Richardson struck her multiple times, including while she was driving. She said when the vehicle was stopped in Worthington, he grabbed her neck two different times and forced her down between the seats and was choking her while demanding she do what he told her to do.

She said he then wanted to go back to Linton and she said when they got back to her residence, he continued to yell at her and she was afraid of him. She said he threatened to burn her house down.

When she went to work the next day, a co-worker noticed her injuries and took pictures.

Officer Montgomery said he took photos of the woman’s injuries including bruising around an eye socket and on a cheek, bruising near her lips, to her neck area and on a forearm.

Officer Montgomery also interviewed the co-worker.

Last Saturday, October 24, Officer O’Malley talked to Richardson at his place of employment. Richardson was upset that the officer had gone to his work site and Richardson declined to give a statement or speak to officers.
