Worthington man accused of stealing from store

By Halea Franklin

A Worthington man has received a summons to appear in Greene Superior Court after allegedly stealing items from Linton Walmart earlier this month.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Linton Police Department Detective Logan Hobbs, he and Officer Davis Aerne were dispatched to Linton WalMart regarding theft.

A store Asset Protection Associate observed the subject, identified as Anthony Moreno, select items — an Ozark Trail brand folding knife, Ozark Trail brand multi-tool, cell phone case, and cell phone vehicle mount — and remove them from packaging. Moreno, accompanied by two females, then placed the items into a diaper bag carried by one of the females. They all exited the store without paying for the items.

Upon arriving at the store, Hobbs spoke with a subject, who was detained by a WalMart Asset Protection Associate. Moreno admitted to Hobbs he did not pay for the items, which totaled $21.86.

Moreno was released from the scene and issued a summons to appear in court.
