Last Saturday morning, deputies found a Worthington man asleep behind the wheel of a Jeep that was partly in a ditch and partly sticking out in a county road in the Lyons area.  

Joshua Logan Bosell, 41, Worthington, was arrested by Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Saturday morning, July 31.

At 8:38 a.m. last Saturday, Deputy Holt was dispatched to a location on County Road 610 South in the Lyons area after someone called the sheriff’s department and said there was a man sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle that wouldn’t wake up.

When Deputy Holt arrived, along with Deputy Michael Stanley, they found a 2016 Jeep Patriot partly in the road and partly in the ditch. The driver was identified as Joshua Bosell.

Deputy Holt reported after they woke him up, Bosell was hard to understand as he had thick, mumbled speech and showed other signs of impairment. When Bosell was asked for his driver’s license and opened the center armrest, the deputy could see a clear jar with a waxy yellow substance, known as “butter,” that later field-tested positive for THC. When Bosell got out of the vehicle, he allegedly staggered and almost fell at one point.

An ambulance was called and EMS personnel on the scene determined Bosell did not have medical issues.

Bosell allegedly failed standard field sobriety testing then refused to take a chemical test. A search warrant was approved and a blood draw was taken after Bosell was transported to the sheriff’s department – results pending.

Before his vehicle was towed, during the required inventory, Deputy Stanley reported he also found a clear bag containing a green plant material that field-tested positive as marijuana.

According to Deputy Holt, when Bosell was being processed into the jail, he became combative toward jail officers and threatened to fight three deputies including Deputies Holt, Stanley and Davis Aerne. Holt reported that Bosell put up his fists and crouched in a threatening manner then pointed to Deputies Holt and Stanley while saying he was going to knock them out.

Bosell was booked in at 10:41 a.m. with bond set at $9,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $950 and been released from jail with an initial hearing scheduled in Greene Superior Court.

Bosell has been charged with:

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person – with a prior within seven years, a Level 6 felony,

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor,

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated – with a prior within seven years, a Level 6 felony,

• Intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor, and

• Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
