Woman picking up spilled pills in a parking lot winds up in jail last Saturday night

A woman apparently cleaning out her vehicle in the parking lot of a convenience store for over an hour had already attracted the attention of an officer, then attracted more when a citizen saw her picking up pills spilled on the ground.

Karrie Elizabeth Wicker-Camden, 28, Linton, was arrested by Officer Skylar Scott of the Jasonville Police Department last Saturday night, April 9.

Officer Scott was on duty when he saw a maroon 2008 Ford Taurus parked in the parking lot of Casey's on East Main Street in Jasonville. The vehicle had items positioned inside that obstructed the driver's view out of the windshield and out of the passenger side window. He saw a woman, who was later identified Wicker-Camden, get out of the vehicle and walk back and forth to the trash can several times. She then leaned inside the vehicle for an extended period of time and Officer Scott just observed for about an hour then left on an unrelated call for service.

Later that night, a citizen reported seeing the woman identified as Wicker-Camden picking up pills next to the vehicle in the parking lot of Casey's. When Officer Scott went back, the Ford Taurus was still parked in the same position, unoccupied. Then Wicker-Camden came out of the store and he asked her if she had spilled some pills outside the vehicle. Wicker-Camden allegedly said she had spilled several suboxone pills that are prescribed to her.

While they were speaking, Officer Scott saw a clear glass smoking device with burnt residue on the dashboard. Wicker-Camden was detained and said she did not want to answer any of his questions.

Officer Scott reported that when the smoking device was retrieved out of the vehicle, the residue field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Wicker-Camden was transported and booked into the Greene County Jail at 10:41 PM. She was first held without bond pending court appearance.

Wicker Camden appeared in Greene Superior Court earlier today, Thursday, April 14, for her initial hearing, and was charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

A public defender was appointed to represent her and her bond was set at $4000 surety with 10% cash allowed. She has since posted bond and been released from custody.
