Woman in jail in Greene County is wanted in Owen County
A woman arrested about a week ago in Linton then charged with meth possession has not yet posted bond and is still in jail in Greene County. But there’s another warrant out for her arrest in Owen County.
Madison Taylor Bohnert, 20, was arrested in Linton early Wednesday, August 14, by officers from the Linton Police Department. Bohnert was booked in to the Greene County Jail around 3 a.m. The jail record lists Bohnert with a home address in Bloomfield while court records list a home address in Linton.
LPD Sgt. Logan Hobbs, the investigating officer, said Bohnert was the driver of a silver Dodge Durango that failed to signal a turn from State Road 54 onto 5th Street NW in Linton around 12:30 a.m. that Wednesday.
When LPD Officer Cody Burris initiated a traffic stop, he determined the license plate on the vehicle had been reported as stolen out of Monroe County.
Sgt. Hobbs was dispatched to assist on the scene along with LPD Officer Adam King and Officer Andrew Duguay and K-9 Blitz of the Jasonville Police Department.
Officer Duguay and K-9 Blitz conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle and K-9 Blitz alerted to the presence of narcotics.
Sgt. Hobbs reported that when the officers searched the vehicle, they found a glass smoking device with a white powder substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Bohnert was transported to the sheriff’s department without incident.
When she appeared in Greene Superior Court for her initial hearing, she was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
During the hearing, her bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
As of today, Thursday, August 22, Bohnert had not posted bond and was still in the Greene County Jail. It would take $800 cash to bond out in this case, however, she’s facing other criminal charges.
In Owen County, there are three criminal cases pending against Bohnert that include a felony count for battery by means of a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor count of false informing and others. In one case, there is a warrant out for her arrest.
