Woman accused of making up big story to get another woman in trouble

A Bloomfield woman, accused of making up a big story to get another woman in trouble, is being summoned into court to face a charge of false informing.

Lea Pfaff, 38, of Bloomfield, will receive a summons ordering her to appear in Greene Superior Court at the end of July.

Pfaff contacted the sheriff’s department in early May to make a complaint about another woman that Pfaff said had taken her pain medication.

Lt. Marvin Holt of the Bloomfield Police Department was dispatched and when he talked to Pfaff, she claimed the woman had gone into her apartment when Pfaff was gone and taken 100 pills of her pain medication. Pfaff allegedly said there was a witness who had seen the woman go into Pfaff’s apartment.

When Lt. Holt talked to the witness, she did not confirm Pfaff’s story but instead said Pfaff had told her that Pfaff’s boyfriend had taken the pills the night before.

Lt. Holt reported that when he talked to Pfaff again, she admitted the medication had been taken by her boyfriend and she knew she had falsely accused someone.

Lt. Holt said when he asked Pfaff why she made this big story up, she allegedly said she wanted the other woman to go to jail so she would leave her alone.

Pfaff was warned that a charge would be filed against her.

False informing resulting in a substantial hindrance to law enforcement is a Class A misdemeanor.
