A woman who allegedly kneed a man during a domestic argument was arrested and is facing a Level 6 felony battery charge.

Marissa Katherine Dyer, 25, Solsberry, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Gooding of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday morning, May 30, after Deputy Gooding responded to a domestic on East Tulip Road. GCSD Deputy Harvey Holt also responded to this incident.

When he arrived, Deputy Gooding learned a couple had been in an argument that morning and that they’d been arguing over the previous couple of weeks.

The male resident alleged that Dyer kneed him while he was holding their child and he then went outside the residence and called law enforcement.

When Deputy Gooding talked to Dyer, she said she just wanted the man to leave but the deputy told her he couldn’t make him leave because they are married and both live there. When asked if the man had done anything to her, she allegedly said he had only yelled and argued.

The deputy explained to Dyer that by yelling and arguing, the man had not done anything criminal but when she kneed him, that is battery.

Dyer was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $400 and was released later the same day.

Dyer is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court in the morning, Thursday, June 11, for an initial hearing. She is facing a preliminary charge of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16, a Level 6 felony.
