Woman accused of causing serious injuries to her sister in New Year’s attack
A woman is facing a Level 5 felony after she allegedly attacked her sister on New Year’s causing injuries that included a broken wrist, broken nose, rotator cuff injury and concussion along with bleeding scratches and bite marks.
Jordan Marie Proctor, 19, was arrested late Tuesday, January 1, by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Heather Wood. Court records show Proctor with a home address in rural Worthington but the jail log shows her with a home address in rural Bloomfield.
Around 9:50 p.m. on New Year’s Day, Deputy Wood was dispatched to a residence on County Road 800 North in the Worthington area about a battery.
When she arrived, she first talked to Proctor who told her she accidentally backed into her sister’s vehicle when she was backing out of the driveway and that her sister got upset, came outside yelling at her, hit her in the face and grabbed her hair. Then when they both went back inside, they continued to argue and then fight. Deputy Wood said the knuckles on both of Proctor’s hands were red and swollen and when she asked if that was from hitting her sister, Proctor allegedly said yes, probably.
Deputy Wood also reported the living room of the home was in disarray - the couch was crooked and items had been knocked off tables.
When Deputy Wood talked to the sister and another family member who was present and witnessed the altercation inside the home, they told a different story.
The family member said Proctor had come into the room charging at her sister, drug her off the couch and attacked her. She said Proctor got on top of the woman and was punching her as the woman yelled for Proctor to stop. The family member said she had no doubt Proctor had started the fight.
When Deputy Wood talked to Proctor’s sister, the alleged victim, the sister told her she was doing dishes when Proctor hit her car and she ran out to look. She said there was no physical altercation in the driveway but Proctor told her she should not have parked in that spot. She said she went back inside and sat down on the couch but then Proctor ran in, grabbed her by the hair, threw her off the couch and started hitting and biting her. The sister said Proctor was beating her head off the floor and she could not get away.
Deputy Wood took photos of the woman’s injures and said the sister was bleeding on her face, ear and leg, she had bleeding scratch marks on her face, at least four bite marks and the woman thought her nose was broken. The sister declined an ambulance but she did go to the hospital to be checked out.
Deputy Wood said she learned later, after the sister had been to the hospital, that the sister suffered a fractured wrist, fractured nose, a mild concussion, a reinjury to a rotator cuff that she’d previous had surgery on, in addition to the scratches and bites.
On the scene, Proctor was advised of her Miranda Rights and Deputy Wood reported that while she was reading them, Proctor mocked the deputy and when the deputy remarked that the sister looked really bad, Proctor said, “She should.”
Proctor was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail. Shortly before midnight, she was booked in initially on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge with bond set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She has since posted $1000 cash and been released from jail.
After the severity of the victim’s injuries were known and the case was submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review, a criminal case with a more serious charge was filed against Proctor in Greene Circuit Court on Monday, January 7, by Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw.
When Proctor appeared for her initial hearing yesterday afternoon, January 7, she was charged with domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony.
Deputy Public Defender Ellen Martin was appointed to represent Proctor and Proctor was served in court with an order to have no contact with the victim in this case.
