Wife arrested for battery on husband

A wife is accused of battery on her husband. When she talked to a deputy, she wouldn’t say how her husband got the marks on his face, but she did call him a few names.

Gabrielle Lynn Wagler

Gabrielle Lynn Wagler, 31, Sandborn, was arrested by Deputy Michael Stanley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early last Saturday, August 7, following an incident that started late Friday, August 6.

Deputy Stanley, the investigating officer, was dispatched to a residence on South State Road 59 (location has a Sandborn mailing address) for a welfare check around 11:30 p.m. last Friday. GCSD Deputy Devan Goad and Deputy William C. Walker also responded.

When they arrived, they found Gabrielle Wagler and her husband. When asked to verbally confirm their identity, the husband confirmed with a “Yes” and Wagler confirmed with a “Yeah, this is my b---- husband.”

When the husband talked to Deputy Stanley, he allegedly said an argument started as soon as he got home. Deputy Stanley said the man had fresh red marks on his face, one near an eyebrow, one on his forehead and one on his nose. He confirmed Wagler had done this but said he didn’t want to press charges. He wouldn’t say much about the argument except to say there were no weapons involved and he kept saying he wasn’t trying to press charges. But he did say Wagler had his phone and all of his keys.

Deputy Stanley reported that when he talked to Wagler, she called her husband names and said he came home drunk and wanted to hit her. She said she didn’t hit him. Deputy Stanley did not see any fresh wounds on Wagler and she would not say how her husband received the marks on his face. But she did call him a few more names.

The man’s phone and keys were returned to him and Wagler was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in at 12:52 a.m. Saturday. Her bond was set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $100 and was released the same day as her arrest.

Wagler is scheduled to be in Greene Superior Court early Thursday, August 19 for an initial hearing when she will be formally charged with domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
