White River Co-op near Scotland damaged when vehicle jumps a curb Sunday evening

The White River Co-op building near Scotland sustained minor damage Sunday evening when a car jumped a curb in a parking space and hit the building. No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, November 25.

Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Davis Aerne was dispatched at 8:23 p.m. to the White River Co-op at 1172 East State Road 58, a gas station and convenience store near Scotland, where a vehicle had struck the building.

The vehicle, a blue Chrysler Town and Country car, was driven by Terry Brown, 67, of Jasper.

When Deputy Aerne arrived, he talked to Brown who told him when he was pulling his car into a parking space, he couldn’t get the car top stop. He said after applying pressure on the brake, the vehicle went over a curb and hit the building.

Deputy Aerne reported minor damage to the exterior wall of the building and minor damage to an interior wall, but no injuries.
